A new toy....
But what do we do with it?

Micro-Fox 15
The Micro-Fox 15 by Byonics.Com is a 15mW T-Hunt transmitter capable of transmitting on
any 2-meter frequency (144MHz - 148MHz). It can be heard over 3 miles away, so
it's great for a walking or ARDF style hunt. With the serial programming cable
and Windows configuration software, the user can control all timing, tones, and
Morse Code ID. The unit runs on a 9 volt battery and uses a standard
rubber ducky antenna with a SA type connector.
We now have at least three of these neat little transmitters in the fox hunting bags of local hams. It is time to figure out what to
do with these little gems. If you have any ideas, please let us know. Please post them on
our Yahoo group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MichiganFoxHunter/ or send an email to
webfox@MichiganFoxHunter.com.
Hope to hear from you......

OK let's keep it simple. 145.53, starting at Family Fare Port Sheldon/28th Ave. Hudsonville/Jenison, the normal minimum mileage rules, optional post-hunt brag session TBA. Power will remain constant, polarization could be....anything-but will not change during the hunt, hunted will be within a 9.2 mile radius of starting point. Tx on for 1 minute, off for 3 minutes, beginning at 7pm. Anything I've missed?

Branch
County Fox Hunt Tuesday, May 17, 2011 7:00 PM
This will be a competitive hunt where each
team or individual competes against all others for the honor of being the champ!
|
The first hunt of the year For the BCARC is in the books, and it was a great
time. The Fox did an excellent job, hiding the Fox Box in Waterworks Park on the far
side of the river nestled under a pine tree near the chain link fence that separates
the park from the fairgrounds on the south side of Coldwater. The fence and nearby
buildings combined to create a lot of reflections which made the end game more difficult.
This was a competitive hunt with a time limit of 1.5 hours. Tags numbered 1, 2, and 3 were on
the Fox Box and the the first arrival takes #1, the second #2, etc.
Participating were 10 hunters, the Huntmaster, and the Fox. Two teams could not locate the Fox
Box within the time limit, so they limped back to the starting point with their heads hanging
low and their tails between their legs.
Coming in 1st was Tom Bosscher, K8TB from GR, 2nd went to the team of Chuck Smith KC9QCF,
and Charles Parsons, KC9QDO, both from Fremont, IN. 3rd was Jan Hayden, KD8CYW from Branch County.
It is interesting to note that we had participants from Kent, Calhoun and Branch Counties in
Michigan and from Steuben County Indiana.
We barely beat the rain, but in spite of the chilly temps, a great time was had by all.
Prizes were awarded for the first 3 finishers: 1st place: $20; 2nd place $10; and 3rd
place $5. It was interesting to note that all winners donated the prize money back to
the club. Thank you for your generosity, fellows!
We are stoked and ready to go again!

in a Foxhunting Article
What is the MichiganFoxHunter Yahoo Group, you ask? It's a bulletin board specifically made to keep members and
friends up to date on fox hunting activities in Michigan, buy
and sell your "second best" RDF equipment, ask questions and
read comments on a daily basis. You can keep track of "what's
happening" in either of two ways.
Visit the Yahoo web site. The first way is to go to the yahoo site by clicking the link above or
surfing to "http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MichiganFoxHunter/". (I have a shortcut on my desktop.)
You can view recent postings as well as search for past achieved
postings. If you wish, you can leave replies to posted
questions or ask a question of your own by selecting Post from the menu on the left or
by clicking Reply from the button on each posting.
Sign-up for e-mails of postings.
After you sign-in to the MichiganFoxHunter Yahoo site, you will
see a link "Edit Membership" at the top of the screen just above
the MichiganFoxHunter name. Use this link to access you
membership setup, especially your preference on getting emails.
The default setup here is for you to get an email every time
somebody posts a message. THIS IS TOO MUCH E-MAIL for most
members. Most people select the option to get a daily
digest of postings or no email at all. (i.e. you will
visit the site to read postings.) You can change this
setting at any time.
Members can also post messages with email by emailing the message to MichiganFoxHunter@Yahoogroups.com. Note that
your email subject line becomes the posting title.
This is a moderated group. Moderators
approve all new members - to keep spammers out. They also reserve the right
to remove "unfriendly postings" especially spam.
Please join us!
